LOBSTERS

During the discussion on the poem Lobsters in the 2nd discussion it was brought up a lot about how the author was maybe trying to compare the Lobsters in grocery stores to humans. Also it was brought up in the way of a question and it was stated that he was probably trying to write in that way. Also what was brought up a lot was the last two lines of the last stanza “Thinking: There’s something underneath the world. The flame beneath the pot that boils the water.” It was asked why he was comparing those things, or if he was even comparing them at all. Another thing is what he meant when he wrote it.

At 1st I thought the poem was about the way Lobsters live and how they look and a very descriptive kind of informational piece. Now after reading it and talking about it in class, I understand more than just what is written on the page. I now think that the author is trying to compare Lobsters to humans. I think this because he states “We pause and are bemused, and sometimes it happens that a mind sinks down to the blind abyss in a swirl of sand, goes cold and archaic in a carapace of horn, thinking: There’s something underneath the world. The flame beneath the pot that boils the water.” This is telling that the lobsters are bewildered and confused when they are in the tank at the store. Also people are bewildered and confused about many things throughout their life.

5 part paragraph analysis

To make a “good” paragraph lots of people and most people need to work on is embedding quotes. Most quotes are embedded but not correctly. Another thing that lots of people need to work on is in their commentary. Lots of the papers that I heard during class the commentary was not what they thought of the quote but was plot summery.

For me I prefer to do free write because there is little thought put into them. Ii is difficult for me to an organized set out planed paper. This is because it is difficult for me not to write what comes to my mind. That is another reason why I like to do free write. I personally need to improve on everything that goes into a 5 part paragraph.
